Tyrone-Based iGo Awarded Statewide Employer Award by PA Workforce Development Association (PWDA)

Annual Award Recognizes Exceptional Employer Practices and Contributions

TYRONE, PA, May 10, 2021 — InspectionGo, known as “iGo,” a  provider of technology and services to the home inspection industry, has been named the winner of the 2021 Employer Award by the Pennsylvania Workforce Development Association (PWDA) in recognition of their exemplary work in the local community and commitment to working with people with disabilities.  Nominated by the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation Services within the PA Department of Labor & Industry, iGo is being recognized not only for their inclusive employment practices but for their broader positive contributions to the community.  Previous winners of the award include Fedex Ground in 2019.

“We are thrilled to be selected for this award,” said John Russell, CEO of iGo.  “Community building is at the heart of who we are at iGo.  We aim to nurture healthy communities among our network of clients nationwide, in the town of Tyrone where we work, and within the company, each day, so to be recognized in this way is a deep honor.”

iGo is a national provider of technology and services to the home inspection industry.  They build technology to modernize the inspection process, and they operate a call center, an accounting service, a training academy, and a coaching group that includes many of the largest inspection companies in the U.S.

Headquartered in downtown Tyrone, iGo is in its second year of operation and growing at a blistering pace with nearly 100 employees and hiring 5-10 new employees each month.  Many open positions include sales, service, and management at a variety of levels based on prior experience. iGo offers a competitive starting wage, a lucrative incentive program and a full benefits package.  Those interested in available positions at iGo may review and apply online here

Since relocating their previous venture, EMG Brands, to Tyrone three years ago, John Russell and his brother, Will Russell, previously CFO of EMG Brands and now CFO of iGo, have committed to adaptive reuse of abandoned properties in Tyrone. The building at 1010 Pennsylvania Ave is now home to the leadership team and accounting department, with the entire first floor dedicated to an employee lounge. The building at 1014 Pennsylvania Ave. houses a call center, marketing department and multiple meeting rooms.

Before the Russell brothers purchased the buildings, they were abandoned, vandalized and crumbling. The brothers teamed up with Altoona Blair County Development Corp. to keep the historical industrial aesthetic of the 100 plus year old buildings as they invested $1.5 million to update more than 10,000 square feet of space for a modern workforce. In addition, they have contributed value to the community by sponsoring various events including a Backpack Giveaway that benefits local students every year.

In September of 2020 Danielle Longo, Director of Call Center director at iGo  reached out to the Altoona OVR office to partner in finding quality employees that would enhance iGo’s workforce. That was the beginning of an effectual partnership to create career opportunities for customers of the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation Services within iGo.
